Labor shortage in the agricultural sector is about 50% – Dmytro Solomchuk
The shortage of workers in the agricultural sector today may be about 50%.
This view was expressed by Dmytro Solomchuk, MP and member of Verkhovna Rada’s Agrarian and Land Policy Committee, at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“In the agricultural sector, the figures are constantly fluctuating, but the shortage is at least about 30%. These are the minimum figures. In reality, if we take into account all small farmers who work on 5, 10, or 20 hectares of land, I believe the figure will be around 50%. I haven’t conducted any statistical surveys, but I visit villages in different regions every day and communicate with people, and I can see that the shortage, taking into account both small and large farmers, is undoubtedly at the level of 50%,” Dmytro Solomchuk noted.
