Kateryna Levchenko: Ukraine ranks 20th in the Gender Equality Index
Ukraine ranks 20th among the 27 EU countries + Ukraine in the overall score of the Gender Equality Index.
This was announced by Kateryna Levchenko, Government Commissioner for Gender Policy of Ukraine, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“Ukraine is 20th in the ranking of 27 countries of the European Union and Ukraine for 2023. This means that we are among EU members – not the best, but not the worst – we are part of European society. And this is a very strong message to counter hybrid threats and disinformation that claim that Ukraine is far from the EU and its standards and that we will never reach them. But we already have,” she stressed.
According to Kateryna Levchenko, countries such as Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Slovakia, Greece, Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania have slightly lower indices.
“Ukraine’s score is 61.4, while the EU average is 70.2. So we are in 20th place. I think this is not bad, and it is also important for all of us to communicate this correctly,” she noted.
