If the temperature falls below zero, there will be power restrictions for two to four hours – Oleksandr Kharchenko
If the air temperature remains above zero, power restrictions may not be necessary. However, if the temperature drops, restrictions for two to four hours a day are possible.
This was stated by Oleksandr Kharchenko, Director of the Energy Research Center, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“The reality is that at temperatures of -5°C and below, there would be restrictions even if there were no attacks. Right now, because of the recent attacks, some of the generating capacity has been taken out of the grid and restoration efforts are underway. Therefore, I believe that even at -1°C, -2°C or -3°C, we will have some supply restrictions. I think these restrictions will last two to four hours a day for the time being. Once we restore the high-voltage grids, which I believe will be operating relatively normally by the end of this week, the situation will improve. If the temperature stays above 0°C, I do not anticipate any restrictions, but if it drops below zero, restrictions of two to four hours a day will be necessary,” he explained.
