I don’t believe in a 15-year war – Odesa’s Daily editor-in-chief
At the panel discussion “What will Ukraine look like after fifteen years of war” at the Media Centre Ukraine – Odesa, journalist Leonid Shtekel denied the possibility of a long-term military conflict with Russia.
According to the journalist, the war cannot last for 15 years, as Ukraine is 90% dependent on international partners, and all Ukrainian defence production is manipulative and demonstrative. According to Steckel, if the fighting drags on, it will be very difficult for Ukraine to count on international support in a year’s time.
At the same time, the editor of the Odesa Daily raised the issue of freedom of speech in the media: “The war has exageratted all the problems of society. None of them have been solved, and if they have been solved, it was not thanks to the authorities, but in spite of them. One of the indicators is the situation with the media. Under the guise of fighting russian aggression, we have seen the destruction of freedom of speech. There is currently no connection between the government and society, so the media system does not work, but only informs, that is, it is no longer a link between people and the government.”
