Geraskevich’s team is unaware of Ukrainian lawyers’ intentions to join the athlete’s defense
Geraskevich’s interests are represented by one lawyer, and the athlete’s team knows nothing about Andriy Yermak’s desire to join the defense. This was stated during a briefing by Vladislav Geraskevich, a Ukrainian skeleton racer, the first in Ukrainian history to obtain an Olympic license and compete in the Olympics. He is an international-class Master of Sports of Ukraine.
“Regarding the issue of court cases. Like you, I learned about this (Andriy Yermak’s desire to join the Ukrainian athlete’s defense team – ed.) from social media. Accordingly, we worked with Mr. Yevhen (Yevhen Pronin, sports lawyer – ed.) on all the documents and were advised by foreign lawyers. Unfortunately, not everything written on the internet is true,” said the athlete.
However, Yevhen Pronin, former acting president of the Athletics Federation of Ukraine and sports lawyer, noted that no one had come forward with such communication.
“I have sufficient competence in sports arbitration, having been involved in it for more than 12 years. Therefore, if any outside help is needed, I will ask for it. This was very disruptive that day; we had an hour and a half to file an appeal and a night to respond to the Ministry of Health’s review. And this communication was very distracting at the time,” he said.
