Food prices: What to expect in the next 4–5 months

Speaking at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotskyi said no major factors are expected to drive significant price changes before the next harvest.

“As of today, based on our analysis of the current situation, we do not see any conditions that would lead to a substantial price shift before the new harvest,” he explained. “The existing harvest is already determined, and that remains unchanged. There is a potential disruptive factor that could influence costs—namely, energy supply—but we hope the system will hold up, ensuring stability. Trade continues in both exports and imports, so if any short-term deficit arises, it can be offset by imports, which are priced in line with current market levels,” he explained.

At the moment, no major factors are in play that would cause a significant change in food prices.

Vysotskyi also pointed to a degree of stability in the dairy market.

Looking ahead, he expects the price situation to remain favorable in the coming months.

“In terms of price trends over the next four to five months, we can take a cautiously optimistic outlook, with a reasonable chance of some downward adjustments and improved availability of key products for consumers,” he added.
