Expert: russians used Romanian airspace as a cover for attacks on Izmail and Reni
For a long time, when trying to attack the Izmail and Reni districts, Russians used Romanian airspace as a cover, where Ukrainian air defense could not destroy targets. This assessment was made by Oleksandr Kovalenko, military and political observer of the Information Resistance group, at a briefing at the Ukraine-Odesa Media Center.
“We had no right to fire at targets located in the airspace of another country. They used this to get to the destruction sites in Izmail and Reniisk districts more safely. By the way, the same tactic was used by the Russians to improve the effectiveness of their Kalibr cruise missiles. At that time, they used the airspace of Moldova to reach targets in the central or western regions of Ukraine more safely,” the expert believes.
The south is less protected than Odesa and the surrounding areas, Kovalenko admits. However, according to the expert, Romania is now deploying more troops to the Ukrainian border, possibly to destroy Russian drones.
