European Commission allocates EUR 7 million for ‘green’ development of Ukraine; cooperation between Ukrainian and European architects is planned — EU Commissioner
The European Commission will cooperate with the city councils of Ukraine in a way that will help to avoid getting entangled in bureaucracy when implementing energy-efficient solutions during Ukraine’s reconstruction. Virginius Sinkavičius, EU Commissioner for the Environment, Oceans, and Fisheries, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.
“We allocated 7 million for the green development of Ukrainian cities. What Ukraine will look like will depend on the design, and it will be a collaboration between European and Ukrainian architects who will design these ‘green’ houses, energy-efficient, modern projects for schools and kindergartens. These funds will be transferred to the city councils, we will cooperate with them in such a way as to ensure that these processes do not get entangled in the bureaucracy. We want to implement more energy-efficient solutions, but public procurement is a rather difficult process. Therefore, we want to support the city councils in these processes, so that they quickly proceed to the implementation of this project,” — Sinkavičius said.
