Energy front remains top priority – Anna Zamazeeva on key issues at Ukraine Recovery Conference
A lot of attention at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in London is paid to the issues of energy, energy efficiency, and energy saving.
Anna Zamazeeva, Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“Yesterday, for example, there were meetings dedicated to the climate, energy efficiency, and how exactly our country plans to move forward. Everyone is discussing and waiting for the upcoming announcement of the energy strategy 2050, which was announced by the Ministry of Energy. Tomorrow there will be a lot of sessions, which are also dedicated to the climate and energy efficiency, helping our country to rebuild according to “Energy efficiency is first and foremost ” principle”, she emphasized.
Issues of energy and energy efficiency are of particular importance during the discussions at conferences. Therefore, Anna Zamazeeva noted, the energy front and preparation for winter remain a top priority for today.
“That’s why almost the entire conference is imbued with this. Both The President (of Ukraine – Ed.) and the UK Prime Minister spoke about energy today in their opening speeches. That is, the energy front remains a top priority for today along with the preparations for next winter period. That is, all countries are ready to join in. And we will keep you informed of how representatives of foreign countries actually react at these sessions, and see what will come of this conference,” she added.
At the same time, Anna Zamazeeva noted that discussions focus on the issues of transition to renewable energy sources, increasing the share in the country’s energy production, as well as energy efficiency measures.
“We effectively gave up russian gas and today we are talking about alternative types of fuel, about synthetic gases. We are Europe’s strategic partner in supply and production in the future. So we must bring our legislation in line, be ready to rebuild it and fulfill the terms of these intergovernmental agreements on the production of synthetic gases. I hope that next week the issue of biomethane in our country will be discussed more actively with regard to export, and at this conference we will discuss further steps towards the recognition of guarantees for biomethane production in the European Union,” said the Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine.
Anna Zamazeeva expressed her belief that the conference will contribute to the development of contacts, practical measures and understanding the quantity of all the finances allocated for the reconstruction of Ukraine in various areas.
