Emine Dzhaparova: a Ukrainian book has become our symbol of resistance, a symbol of our identity
“The Ukrainian book that we, together with the Ministry of Culture and the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting and other partners, and thanks to you, the publishers, distribute to our children today is a link, it is a bridge that allows them to keep hope that they will return. It allows them to keep their emotional and psychological connection with their country”, — Emine Dzhaparova, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine said at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.
According to her, Ukrainian children in more than 20 countries have received about 600,000 books as the result of “A Ukrainian Book for Ukrainian Children” charity campaign.
“In addition to what we are talking about today, we will prioritize the implementation of book projects together with our other partners. For example, the “Bookshelf” together with the Ukrainian Book, with the Ministry of Culture, together with the First Lady,” — she added.
At the same time, Emine Dzhaparova noted that 32 countries already have quality Ukrainian literature in their libraries and cultural centers.
“One of the latest openings was in the UAE. This is the only — I hope not the last — “Bookshelf” in the Middle East. There was also an opening in Cape Town, this is the Republic of South Africa. And we will pick up the momentum and expand the geography beyond 32 countries.”
