Education and Science Ministry Highlights Majors with Growing Popularity in Ukraine
In recent years, psychology, philology, and IT specialties have seen a significant rise in popularity in Ukraine.
Oleh Sharov, Director General of the Directorate of Vocational Pre-Higher and Higher Education, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.
“Specialties in higher education are largely consistent, though some shifts are noticeable. In recent years, psychology has seen a significant rise in popularity. The interest in philology has also grown, particularly in Ukrainian language and literature, English language and literature, and various other languages. IT majors have experienced a substantial increase in demand over the past five years, with enrollments in fields like software engineering and computer science growing significantly compared to a decade ago,” Oleh Sharov said.
At the same time, he pointed to majors that traditionally remain popular.
“While they may have lost some ground, economics, international relations, management, and journalism majors remain among the most popular choices for applicants to higher education institutions in Ukraine,” Oleh Sharov added.
