Due to the rising flood water, the occupiers moved deeper into the Oblast’s left bank and lost some mortar crews – Natalia Humeniuk on the situation in the Kherson region

Because of the water level rise, the occupiers moved from 5 to 15 km deeper into the left bank in some areas, thus increasing the distance of shelling. At the same time, due to flooding, the enemy lost some mortar crews previously used for powerful attacks firing, including on Kherson.

Natalia Humeniuk, Head of the United Coordinating Press Center of Security and Defense Forces of the South of Ukraine made the relevant statement, at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.

“But still, in absolute terms, it is not possible to reduce or stop the shelling. It was mentioned earlier that this requires a strip of at least 30 kilometers from the water’s edge of the classical, general geographical bank, the left bank. But now the water spill has allowed us to increase the distance at least that much. And this has reduced the number of attacks. In particular, if earlier there were 70-80 attacks per day, now there are 30-50. This is a little less, but these are ongoing attacks. Of particular atrocity is a fact of continuous shelling in the places of humanitarian evacuation undertaken. These are places where people are being helped from engulfing water. The enemy fires rockets including on the gathering place where those needing further redeployment,” noted Natalia Humeniuk.
