Dmytro Solomchuk on EU-Ukraine agricultural trade rules updates: Aiming for quota-free exports at 2022-2023 levels
Therefore, I hope that there will be no quotas and that we can continue exporting at the 2022-2023 levels,” Solomchuktive for one year. Quotas have been established for certain agri-food exports, based on the average harvest from the latter half of 2021 and the 2022-2023 period. These quotas apply to six specific types of products: sugar, eggs, poultry, corn, cereals, and honey. Despite these restrictions introduced, there is optimism that Ukraine can maintain export volumes comparable to the previous two years.
Dmytro Solomchuk, a member of the Verkhovna Rada’s Agrarian and Land Policy Committee, addressed this issue during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“They revised these six agricultural products due to farmers’ concerns, enabling quick decisions on export quotas to protect their domestic market. Currently, the market remains stable, and Ukrainian farmers have limited influence on the situation, as global prices are shaped by the international market and conditions in the US, Brazil, and Argentina. These factors primarily drive price fluctuations. Therefore, I hope that there will be no quotas and that we can continue exporting at the 2022-2023 levels,” Solomchuk explained.
