Compared to last year, government officials have begun to use Russian more frequently – Olena Ivanovska
Government officials have begun to communicate in Russian more frequently, as evidenced by the number of complaints received by the Commissioner. Olena Ivanovska, Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language, stated this during a briefing at the Ukraine Media Center.
“This is related to officials using a non-state language in public communication. But I view this positively from a democratic perspective; citizens no longer excuse officials’ professional negligence,” she noted.
