Combining Sports and Academic Success: The SportOsvita Digital Platform Has Launched in Ukraine
The SportOsvita digital platform has launched in Ukraine, bringing together higher education institutions by region, sport, and sports infrastructure. Currently, 104 universities have joined the platform.
Yuriy Petrushenko, director of the President of Ukraine’s Foundation for the Support of Education, Science, and Sports, announced this during a briefing at the Ukraine Media Center.
“Our foundation’s mission is to introduce sports grants for students at the universities of their choice, with the aim of encouraging the launch of student leagues and
a student fund. We want student sports in Ukraine to become the foundation of Olympic sports,” said Yuriy Petrushenko. He explained that a student who competes professionally in a sport can choose any university based on the major they wish to pursue. However, the chosen institution must offer that sport at a high level.
To create the platform, sports programs, infrastructure, and coaching staff at higher education institutions in Ukraine were analyzed. Users can filter by city, region, sport, and coaching staff.
For the first time in Ukraine, a digital platform has systematized all higher education institutions that allow prospective students to study their chosen major without having to give up competitive sports. This will serve as the foundation for the development of student leagues and
sports clubs.
