Border crossings blocked for traffic may affect the transport of humanitarian supplies – Andrii Demchenko
Despite Polish strikers letting humanitarian cargo and passenger buses through, the traffic congestion at checkpoints may affect the humanitarian goods logistics Ukraine needs
Andrii Demchenko, Spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine made this statement, at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“The heavy traffic certainly can affect the humanitarian goods delivery much-needed for Ukraine, although the protesters said they would not block transporting aid, fuel, and perishable goods. I can say that only a few vehicles arrive in these directions to cross the border from Poland to Ukraine. Instead, periodically there is information that the strike action participants report that they will probably make way for only one car per hour, and it will not even depend on the cargo that the trucks are carrying,” said Andrii Demchenko.
As a reminder, Polish truckers continue to block Ukrainian carriers at three border checkpoints: Yahodyn-Dorohusk, Rava-Ruska-Hrebenne, and Krakivets-Korczowa.
