At the current rate, it could take Ukraine 90 years to return all children officially recognised as deported – Public figure

So far, 736 children out of 19,546 officially recognised as deported have been returned. 

This was reported by Anastasiia Stepula, Advocacy Consultant at the NGO “Ukrainian Child Rights Network”, during a discussion at the Media Centre Ukraine.

“The return of Ukrainian children is extremely slow. And this is not Ukraine’s fault, it is the result of russia’s opposition to the return of our children. They are doing everything they can to prevent their return. At the moment, 19,546 children are officially recognised as deported and only 736 of them have been returned. If we continue at this rate, it will take 90 years to return all the children officially recognised as deported,” she said.
