“As a result of russian aggression, 640 km of highways were completely destroyed in the Kharkiv region,” – Ihor Turchenko
On November 15, the director of the state-owned enterprise “Roads of the Kharkiv Region” Ihor Turchenko talked about the restoration of roads of local importance in the Kharkiv region, which were damaged as a result of the armed aggression of the russian federation.
According to the speaker, the Kharkiv region ranks first in Ukraine regarding the number of roads of local importance, the length of which reaches more than seven thousand kilometers.
On the instructions of the head of the Kharkiv regional state administration Oleh Syniehubov, repair work has been started in the de-occupied territories, as the region has received the largest destruction of roads and bridges of local importance.
“As a result of russian aggression, 640 km of highways were completely destroyed, partially – almost 2.5 thousand km, as well as 27 bridges and overpasses,” said Mr. Turchenko.
Since March of this year, the State Enterprise “Roads of Kharkiv Region” began to carry out repair work to restore roads in the territories liberated from the russian occupiers. Logistics routes used for evacuating people, transporting the wounded, delivering humanitarian aid, etc., became a priority.
At the expense of operational maintenance, work was carried out on restoring the pavement connecting the Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions through the Blyzniuky district.
Ihor Turenko said that on 22 destroyed bridges, full-fledged detours had been arranged by repairmen. Eight bridges have been overhauled. More than 330 new road signs were installed throughout the Kharkiv region, and more than 800 km of road markings were restored.
“The state enterprise “Roads of the Kharkiv region” pays special attention to the quality of the works performed. We closely cooperate with two state institutions – “Dor-yakist” (“Road-Quality”) and Kharkiv National Automobile and Road University. Financial transactions with contractors are carried out only after receiving the relevant certificates from these institutions,” Mr. Turchenko noted.
