Army is ready and capable of prompt, adequate response – Natalia Humeniuk on situation around ZNPP

The Ukrainian army will not change its combat plans if the russians resort to nuclear terrorism and blow up the Zaporizhia NPP (ZNPP).

Natalia Humeniuk, Head of the United Coordinating Press Center of Security and Defense Forces of the South of Ukraine, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.

“The army is ready. By the way, the situation with the possible development of events regarding the Kakhovka HPP was treated with the same consideration. It is because of this that we actually did not lose our positions, did not change our plans and did not change the course of the operation, the combat work, which continued even after the russians blew up the hydroelectric power plant, expecting to affect the counteroffensive,” she noted.

Natalia Humeniuk emphasized the readiness of the Ukrainian army to respond to the situation in the context of challenges related to the situation at the ZNPP.

“The same is true now for the chemical danger that was discussed in relation to the Crimean Titan plant, as well as in relation to the radiation danger due to the Zaporizhia NPP – the army is ready, the army is able to react promptly and adequately and not change its combat plans,” she assured.

As reported, the occupiers seized the ZNPP in March 2022. The information about the mining of the plant came out in the first months of the occupation.

Recently, on June 25 of this year, Chief of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Kyrylo Budanov stated that russia had completed preparations to blow up the Zaporizhia NPP. According to him, the russian military placed explosives next to four power units of the nuclear power plant.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy also emphasized that the russian federation plans to blow up the station.
