American and European investors are ready to implement projects for more than 1.5 GW of power generation in Ukraine during the war – Oleksandr Kharchenko

American and European investors are currently developing projects totaling over 1.5 GW of power generation capacity ready for implementation in Ukraine. However, these projects require appropriate insurance, which affects their implementation schedule.

This information was shared by Oleksandr Kharchenko, Director of the Energy Industry Research Center.

“I know of more than 1.5 GW of projects under development that are ready to be implemented as soon as insurance is provided. All of them have applied for insurance and are going through the process, but it’s a long process. These are real American and European investors who are willing to invest in Ukraine’s energy sector even in times of war. But in order for them to fully commit and implement these projects, insurance is a necessity. While they are moving forward, the process takes time – some nine months, others 12 months – because it’s a complex procedure. If the process is accelerated, they will move faster,” he explained.Earlier, Oleksandr Kharchenko emphasized that private investors could become a key instrument in rebuilding Ukraine’s energy sector, but safeguarding mechanisms are essential.
