Akhmed Zakayev: kadyrov and his forces are not a Chechen phenomenon but part of the “russian world”
Over the past 30 years, through wars and the total occupation of Chechnya, russia has imposed the “russian world” on the country, distorting the perception of its people as a whole.
This point was emphasized by Akhmed Zakayev, Prime Minister of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, during a discussion at the Media Center Ukraine.
“It is deeply painful for us to see how yesterday’s propagandists of the russian-Chechen war have now changed sides and claim to support Ukraine. But none of them wants to reflect on what happened or even remember those tragic events. They refuse to assess what is happening in Chechnya today – where kadyrov and his forces come from and what this phenomenon really represents. This is not a Chechen phenomenon – it is the ‘russian world’. This is the image russia has managed to create over the past 30 years, through wars and the total occupation of our country,” Zakayev stressed.
He pointed out that russian journalists, who have been present in the world media for years, who have been covering the events all these years, instead of assessing the phenomenon of kadyrov and his regime, simply call it a Chechen phenomenon, Chechens, Chechen propaganda or Chechen aggression against Ukrainians. Zakayev strongly rejected this narrative.
“This is absolutely not true. Since 2014, Chechens have been fighting alongside Ukrainians against russian aggression. Those represented by kadyrov or putin today are the same collaborators we see in Ukraine in the temporarily occupied territories,” he added.
