About 59 countries around the world have established ties with Ukraine’s occupied territories, including our country’s partners—according to a study

Since 2022, the number of countries maintaining contacts with Ukraine’s occupied territories has increased significantly, despite sanctions. Since 2022, three UN member states have recognized the occupied territories.

This was stated by Andriy Dikhtyarenko, editor-in-chief and founder of “Realna Gazeta,” during the presentation of the corresponding study at the Ukraine Media Center.

“As of 2014, there were 18 such countries; after 2022, the number increased by 41. Political contact has increased more than 2.5-fold. Social and cultural contacts have also increased. In particular, under the guise of aid, children from the temporarily occupied territories are being taken on vacations; it is unclear whether this is done with their parents’ permission,” he said.

This legitimization occurs through “observers” in the temporarily occupied territories, exhibition franchises, political recognition, economic cooperation, and “friendly” media partners.
