A specialized, innovative training “Stop the Bleed, Save a Limb” held in Kyiv with the participation of Ukrainian athletes, actors and singers
Kyiv hosted a specialized, innovative training session titled “Stop the Bleed, Save a Limb”, designed to revolutionize global first aid practices based on the practical experience gained by Ukrainians during the war.
This was discussed during a press conference at the Media Center Ukraine.
“We want to teach people not only how to stop bleeding, but how to do it without causing harm and save lives in the most effective way possible,” emphasized Leonid Fedorovskyi, Chairman of the Board of the Association of Operators and Instructors of First Aid and Tactical Medicine.
The training was attended by many ambassadors of the first aid course, including Yaroslava Mahuchikh, Ukrainian athlete, Olympic champion and world record holder in athletics. She is convinced that every Ukrainian should take such a course.
“I am very happy to take part in this training. For me it was the first open practical course in first aid. And now I believe that every Ukrainian should take this course to gain this knowledge, and those who have already taken it should also come back, repeat it and practice, because every day there are new insights, technologies and skills. Today I had the opportunity to try to stop the bleeding, to hold a tourniquet in my hand for the first time, and I realized that every Ukrainian needs to know how to do this,” said Yaroslava Mahuchikh.
The organizers plan to cooperate with the authorities in order to make first aid training more widespread in Ukraine. This was stated by Serhii Soshynskyi, President of the ICF “Health of the Ukrainian People”, MBA in Healthcare Administration.
“We have started negotiations with the authorities to involve them in mass education. We see examples from several countries around the world that have done similar things, and we are confident that together with the public, the government, and well-known personalities, we can accomplish something significant, necessary, and beneficial for every Ukrainian in the near future,” he added.
