9-fold surge in energy equipment imports drives up foreign currency demand in Ukraine over the last 2,5 months, says Andriy Dubas
Imports of energy-saving and energy-generating equipment have surged ninefold over the past 2.5 months, significantly increasing the demand for foreign currency in Ukraine.
This development was highlighted by Andriy Dubas, President of the Association of Ukrainian Banks, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“Over the past 2.5 months, we’ve seen a substantial increase in imports of energy-generating equipment, including power banks, generators, and Ecoflow products, as well as various energy-saving devices for household consumers. The volume of these purchases has risen nine times. Since all these components, spare parts, and equipment are imported, it necessitates buying foreign currency, leading to an outflow from Ukraine,” Dubas explained.
