8 million Ukrainians remain unvaccinated against COVID-19, Chief State Sanitary Doctor

The COVID-19 vaccination rate in Ukraine has plummeted since the onset of martial law, with monthly vaccinations dropping to just 5,000—down from the pre-war average of 100,000 to 150,000. At least 8 million Ukrainians remain unvaccinated, leaving a significant portion of the population vulnerable to future outbreaks.

Deputy Minister of Health and Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Ihor Kuzin revealed the alarming statistics during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.

“Even though the vaccination process has been simplified, access has been ensured, and priorities have been maintained, vaccination numbers remain critically low. Before martial law, we vaccinated up to 150,000 people each month. Now, even in the best months under martial law, that number barely reaches 5,000. At least 8 million Ukrainians are currently unvaccinated, putting them at serious risk during the next COVID wave—not this one, but the next,” Kuzin stated.
