79% of Ukrainians completely give up russian-language information products – Taras Kremin
Today, the share of those who have completely given up the russian-language information products reaches 79%.
Taras Kremin, Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.
“Here is the trend we have noticed over these 5 years – since the law came into force (July 16, 2019) and as a result of its entry into force as well as of the implementation of the 8 waves of the language law and the creation of language institutions, and, of course, under the conditions of the full-scale invasion, the vast majority of citizens of Ukraine – and this is a fact proven by the results of sociological surveys – communicate in Ukrainian beyond the officially defined fields. One of the surveys indicates the statistics of 79%, if we talk about those who refused the russian information products and accordingly communicate and read in Ukrainian, use the Ukrainian language and require to be communicated with in the state language. This also applies to communication at home. This indicator is truly unprecedented over the years of Ukraine’s independence,” said Taras Kremin.
