64 rescuers of State Emergency Service dead and over 190 injured since start of full-scale invasion — Khorunzhyy
On February 27, during the liquidation of the consequences of the shelling of one of the objects in Khmelnytskyi, the rescue team of the State Emergency Service came under fire. One rescuer died on the spot, another died in the hospital, and three were injured. Oleksandr Khorunzhyy, Press Officer of the State Emergency Service, made this statement at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.
“Since the beginning of the invasion, 64 rescuers have died, more than 190 have been injured. Very often, both firefighters and explosion experts die, as they are eliminating the consequences of the russian aggression. They are getting hit, even though rescuers are protected by all international conventions all over the world, because they do not have weapons, their actions are aimed specifically at helping people. The russians, as far as I understand, couldn’t care less about this, they have neither morals or conscience. They hit wherever they want, based on our experience, mostly civilian objects,” — Khorunzhyy noted.
