634 crimes against media and journalists documented since start of invasion, says Institute of Mass Information
Since the onset of russia’s full-blown war, a total of 634 crimes targeting media outlets and journalists have been recorded, according to the Institute of Mass Information (IMI).
Kateryna Diachuk, Head of the Freedom of Speech Monitoring Department at the Institute of Mass Information, shared these findings during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.
“As of now, since the beginning of the invasion, we have documented 634 crimes against the media. These incidents span physical assaults, murders, shelling of journalists, injuries, cyberattacks, and strikes on television towers. In essence, russia is taking extensive measures to silence journalists—those documenting Ukraine’s current history and sharing it with the world. russia is taking these actions specifically to shut them up,” Diachuk explained.
