53 people killed, 298 injured in missile attack on Poltava on September 3 – SES

A missile strike by russia on Poltava on September 3 killed 53 people and injured 298. Rescuers managed to pull 11 people out of the rubble. Search and rescue operations are underway.

This was reported by Oleksandr Khorunzhyi, a spokesman for the state emergencies service, at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“So far 53 people have died. There are 298 injured. 25 people have been rescued, including 11 from the rubble. Rescue operations are continuing,” he said.

According to Oleksandr Khorunzhyi, since yesterday, five operational zones have been established where rescuers are working in coordination with other emergency services. An emergency command center has been set up at the site, as well as a coordination center to provide information to relatives of the deceased and injured. The Poltava oblast military administration has also set up a hotline.

Psychological support is provided on the spot for the relatives of the victims and the injured, and SES psychologists have been actively working there since yesterday.

Dog teams have also been involved in search and rescue operations inside the building. In addition, a central SES unit, the Mobile Rescue Center for Rapid Response, has been deployed, with experts in debris removal and working at heights.

In total, more than 220 rescuers and more than 50 units of basic and specialized fire and rescue equipment, including heavy machinery, are involved in the operation.
