365,000 hectares of land Kherson region’s left bank used to get irrigation from Kakhovka Reservoir – Spokesman for Kherson Oblast Military Administration
Losses to agricultural land caused by the occupiers’ blowing up the Kakhovka HPP are significantly different on the right bank and the temporarily occupied left bank of Kherson region.
Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, Spokesman for the Kherson Oblast Military Administration, made this statement at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“As for the right bank, it is 200 hectares, 20 individual farmers who lost their fields. Barley and wheat had been grown there. People who had had gardens near their households lost more. There are about 1,100 hectares, because 1,144 households were flooded, these were precisely these planted gardens,” he said.
However, as Oleksandr Tolokonnikov says, the situation is much worse at the left bank, because 365,000 hectares used to get irrigation from the reservoir.
“That’s why the losses there will be colossal, because all these gardens and vegetables that people used to grow all this time will remain without irrigation,” he emphasized.
