36 cases of botulism registered in Ukraine in first half of 2024 – Food Safety and Consumer Protection Service

During the first half of 2024, 36 cases of botulism were registered in Ukraine, affecting 42 people.

Serhii Tkachuk, Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.

“Within the first half of 2024, 36 cases of botulism were registered in Ukraine with 42 people affected by this disease. Fatalities happened in Zaporizhia, Kyiv and Ternopil regions. If we look at the first half of 2023, then there were 31 such cases, but 37 victims. That is, there are 5 more victims (this year – Ed.). This isn’t a very significant growth, it is not critical,” said Serhii Tkachuk.
