185,000 Internally Displaced Persons Are Registered in Dnipro; This Ranks First in the Country, More Than in Lviv — Borys Filatov, the Mayor
Dnipro city has hosted the largest number of registered internally displaced persons in Ukraine. Borys Filatov, Mayor of Dnipro, made this statement during the briefing in Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.
“Now Dnipro ranks first for internally displaced persons. As of today, the officially registered people alone number 185,000. For example, Lviv city numbers 115,000. This is a very huge problem and it is very difficult for us to solve these issues. There was such an initiative on Iryna Vereshchuk’s part — but it was not continued further — to re-register IDPs once more. Because we want to help everyone. I understand these colossal figures, but these people could have registered and moved on. The stories and situations vary. People can come, register with us, teach their children at our school, but then move to Poltava, because housing is cheaper there. Therefore, the figures we have are indirect,” Borys Filatov said.
