17 People Died in Water Accidents in the Past 24 Hours: State Emergency Service Reports Unprecedented Losses
At the same time, last year’s grim statistics showed that 368 people died, including 28 children.
Viktor Vitovetskyi, director of the Department of Civil Protection and Preventive Activities at the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, made this statement during a briefing at the Ukraine Media Center.
“Since the beginning of the year, 276 people have died, including 37 children. In just over a day, 17 people died, including 9 children. This is a very high number—unprecedented to date,” he said.
Rescue workers attribute these deaths to rising temperatures. More than 30% of the victims were between the ages of 50 and 60.
