“101: A Safe Space for Children, Parents, and Educators”: A New Educational Platform Has Launched in Ukraine
Mistakes in emergency situations can cost lives. That is why the State Emergency Service and UNICEF Ukraine have launched the “101: A Safe Space for Children, Parents, and Educators” platform. It was created as a reliable, trustworthy tool to help quickly find proven action plans and foster a culture of safety from childhood.
“The war has drastically heightened situations where people need to know how to act in various emergencies. We must be able to quickly figure out how to act during military threats, how to act during mine safety threats, or when operating electrical equipment in emergency mode. That is why it is crucial for both children and adults to understand how to act in emergencies, and every educator must know how to convey this information. This safety platform is all about that,” said Roman Prymus, Deputy Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformation, and Digitalization.
Svitlana Kisyliova, Program Manager for Social and Behavioral Change at UNICEF Ukraine, noted that the platform is the result of many years of cooperation between the State Emergency Service and UNICEF, as well as a resource where necessary—and most importantly, verified—information will be compiled. The platform will help foster a culture of safety.
The platform is available on the homepage of the State Emergency Service website; all materials may be reproduced, printed, and distributed. The materials are designed for various age groups, often in a playful and interactive format, to make them engaging and accessible to children and adolescents.
