Ukrainian Meteorological Center identified regions where the fire danger level has decreased and where it remains high

Currently, there are no fire danger warnings for the Zakarpattia, Prykarpattia and Carpathian regions. However, in several other regions the highest, fifth level of fire danger will remain.

This was reported by Nataliia Ptukha, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Meteorological Center, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“For a long time we were affected by an anticyclone, an area of high pressure, which was located to the northeast of Ukraine, bringing dry, mostly clear weather. Now its center is shifting slightly to the east, but the Left-bank Ukraine is still fully under its influence. Meanwhile, another low pressure system is forming over Europe. Previously, there were strong cyclones in the region, and now we have another low over Europe. As a result, cyclones, especially their frontal systems, will begin to slightly affect the western regions in the coming days. For these areas, according to the data calculated by the Ukrainian Meteorological Center, the fire danger period has decreased, especially in Zakarpattia, Prykarpattia and the Carpathian region. There are no fire danger indicators for these regions. However, other regions remain in the fifth class of fire hazard, in some cases in a prolonged extreme fire hazard. Unfortunately, the forecast is not very favorable and the fire danger remains,” said Nataliia Ptukha.

At the same time, she noted that from Wednesday the wind in Ukraine will increase and change direction, coming from the south. However, the wind will be stronger than now, which could worsen the situation in case of fires.
