Yulia Klymenko: Ukraine feeds 400 million people around the world
Yulia Klymenko, Member of Parliament and First Deputy Head of the Transport & Infrastructure Committee at Verkhovna Rada (Parliament of Ukraine) emphasized Ukraine’s importance in the world’s food security at a briefing Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.
“We feed 400 million people worldwide, and we feed numerous low-income countries in Africa and Asia. Thus making these countries now depending on us for food, be largely dependent on us geopolitically,” she said.
Yulia Klymenko outlined the essential factors helping the country fulfill its export obligations.
“There is the Grain Initiative that still enables us to export. And besides, the ports and the Grain Initiative, Ukrzaliznytsia and the road transport having reorganized and increased its capacity quickly, and the Danube port cluster having its capacity increased, we managed to export in the previous years almost in full.”
