Workshops, lectures, discussion with military and awards ceremony: a recap of KyivPride Charity Festival
KyivPride Charity Festival was held in Kyiv on June 9. The visitors of the festival could attend lectures, mental health workshops, express one-on-one consultations, panel discussions on various topics relevant both for the LGBTQ community and for Ukrainian society in general. The festival’s lectures ended with a discussion with the military.
Anna Sharyhina, Head of the Board of “KyivPride” NGO, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
In addition to lectures and discussions, the festival featured KyivPride Awards ceremony honoring individuals, businesses and media outlets that consistently support the LGBTQ community.
“There were a lot of people at the festival, and this, in my opinion, was quite powerful, considering the fact that there have been no KyivPride events in Kyiv for two years,” said Anna Sharyhina.
She noted that the event was attended by more than a thousand people of different ages and from different regions of Ukraine. One of the volunteers at the festival even came from Canada.
