Winter gas supplies under scrutiny as Ukraine aims for 14 billion cubic meters, expert says

Ukraine is racing to secure enough gas supplies for the winter, with current storage holding roughly 11 billion cubic meters, Oleksandr Kharchenko, director of the Energy Research Center, reported at the Media Center Ukraine.

“Gas imports are proceeding at an intensive pace, and more than 11.2 billion cubic meters have already been stockpiled,” Kharchenko said. “I believe we will reach the target set by the government. Will it be enough? Probably not. But it appears there will be additional reserves, and the government is likely to procure more than 13.2 billion cubic meters. Frankly, we need a reserve of 14 billion cubic meters to face the winter with confidence.”
