WHO confirmed 91 attacks on health in Ukraine – Dr. Hans Henri P. Kluge
WHO Regional Director for Europe Dr. Hans Henri P. Kluge said during a briefing at Ukraine Media Center that to date, the WHO had confirmed 91 attacks on health. This, in particular, included attacks on medical personnel and hospitals, which was a clear violation of humanitarian law.
The WHO representative also noted that 50% of pharmacies in Ukraine were most likely closed, and 1,000 healthcare facilities were located close to hotspots. Approximately 80,000 children will be born within the next three months with insufficient pre- and postpartum care.
«During these dark times, I want to assure you once again that the World Health Organization will be in Ukraine in both the short and long term, helping to respond to urgent needs and future recovery needs», – Dr. Hans Henri P. Kluge summarized.
