Water level in ZNPP cooling reservoir dropped below 14 meters, far below the required minimum of over 16 meters – State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate
The water level in the cooling reservoir of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) has dropped below the 14-meter mark, while the required norm is over 16 meters.
Oleh Korikov, head of Ukraine’s State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate, announced this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“We do not have a sufficient water supply because russian forces blew up the Kakhovka Reservoir dam, which no longer exists. That reservoir was the source of water for the Zaporizhia NPP. As a result, the water level in the cooling reservoir continues to decline – now falling below 14 meters against a standard of over 16 meters,” Korikov stated.
