Ministry of Agrarian Policy expects exports to rise in dollar terms
Despite a 10 million ton drop in the oilseed and grain harvest, exports are not expected to fall in dollar terms. On the contrary, they may even grow by 8-10%.
This was stated by Taras Vysotskyi, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“Overall, the current pace of exports is similar to that of last year. Last year’s exports amounted to 22 billion USD. This year it looks like it could reach 23-24 billion USD, averaging about 2 billion USD per month. Although the volume has slightly decreased by about 10 million tons, because we obviously harvested less, and if the domestic market does not reduce consumption, then exports will go down by those 10 million tons. However, international prices have risen, so we do not expect a decline in dollar-based exports; in fact, growth of 8-10% is possible,” he explained.
