Ukrainian strikes have brought southern russia 60% closer to blackout – Oleksandr Kharchenko
Unlike Ukraine’s, russia’s energy system has the capability for temporary load balancing. This allows it to transfer electricity between regions in different time zones during peak hours.
Oleksandr Kharchenko, Director of the Energy Industry Research Center, explained this at the Media Center Ukraine.
“Strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces are gradually disabling the high-voltage substations that enable the transfer of electricity from one federal district to another. If combined heat and power plants are also destroyed, they will be facing a situation that is significantly more difficult than the one we have now”, Kharchenko stated.
However, the expert noted that Moscow is not vulnerable in this way.
