Ukrainian farmers have sown nearly 13 million hectares of land – Denys Marchuk

As of May 29, Ukrainian farmers had sown over 5.5 million hectares of grains and legumes, as well as 7.3 million hectares of oil crops. This is approaching last year’s sowing levels.

Denys Marchuk, deputy chairman of the Ukrainian Agri Council, shared this information during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“As of May 29, approximately 97% of grains and legumes have been sown, covering over 5.5 million hectares. For oil and industrial crops, 73% (over 7.3 million hectares) have been planted,” Marchuk stated.

According to him, favorable weather conditions have accelerated fieldwork, enabling farmers to match last year’s pace of sowing.

“Improved weather with reduced rainfall has allowed farmers to speed up operations. We expect to sow over 13 million hectares with spring grains and oil crops, which is in line with last year’s figures. We anticipate a good harvest,” Marchuk added.
