Ukrainian farmers harvest over 3 million tons of grain, project 50 million by season’s end – Agrarian Council
Despite ongoing Russian attacks and worsening drought conditions, Ukrainian farmers have already harvested more than 3 million tons of grain and legumes, with projections reaching up to 55 million tons by the end of the season, according to the Ukrainian Agri Council.
Speaking at a briefing hosted by Media Center Ukraine, Denys Marchuk, deputy chairman of the Council, said that unfavorable weather, particularly the lack of rainfall in the country’s southern regions, is compounding the challenges faced by agricultural producers.
“Eighteen Oblasts have already begun active fieldwork. Over 3 million tons of cereals and pulses have been ground so far,” Marchuk stated. “Farmers are largely sticking to the schedule, but due to the weather, yields are uneven and falling short of initial expectations in some areas. Still, we hope to reach between 50 and 55 million tons, which would be a solid result.”
Marchuk noted that such an outcome would strengthen Ukraine’s agricultural export potential.
