Ukrainian athletes to voice war stance at Olympics 2024 in Volia Space House
During the 2024 Olympics, Ukrainian athletes will have the opportunity to voice their stance on russia’s war at the Ukrainian Volia Space House.
Vadym Guttsait, President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, announced this at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.
“We will open an Olympic House in Paris—Volia Space. In this Team Ukraine Hospitality House, every athlete can express themselves freely. I am confident that each athlete will show their gratitude to the Armed Forces and convey their heartfelt feelings about the situation in Ukraine, emphasizing the need for support against the aggressor nation. I believe our athletes will express these sentiments. However, during the competitions and within the Olympic Village, we are aware that we will be monitored, including by russian media, focusing on how the Ukrainian national team behaves. Therefore, at the Olympics, it is crucial for our athletes to focus on competing, winning, and raising the flag. Often, actions speak louder than words; raising the flag will demonstrate to the world that Ukraine has endured, it has been, and always will be. This is the key message,” Guttsait stressed.
