Ukraine tackles 18 large-scale fires across 1,300 hectares
Ukraine is currently addressing 18 significant wildfires that have spread over 1,300 hectares.
Oleksandr Khorunzhyi, press officer of the State Emergency Service, provided an update during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“We are actively extinguishing large-scale fires throughout the country, particularly in ecosystems. These include blazes in open areas, dry grass, shrubs, dead wood, and challenging peat fires, as well as forest fires primarily affecting forest litter,” Khorunzhyi stated. He noted that the scale of the fires spans across seven regions of Ukraine.
Specifically, the fires are concentrated in several areas: one fire in the Donetsk region covers over 800 hectares; three fires in the Kyiv region total more than 13 hectares; five fires in the Poltava region account for 28 hectares; three fires in the Rivne region span 75 hectares; two fires in the Sumy region cover approximately 20 hectares; two in the Kharkiv region encompass 190 hectares; and two in the Chernihiv region exceed 190 hectares.
To address the crisis, over 1,300 firefighters and more than 300 pieces of SES equipment are currently deployed in firefighting efforts.
