Ukraine streamlines hepatitis C treatment protocols to expand access, Public Health Center
Beginning in July 2025, Ukraine will adopt a unified treatment regimen for viral hepatitis C, a move health officials say will make care more accessible to patients across the country.
The decision marks a significant step toward ensuring that all individuals diagnosed with hepatitis C can receive treatment, according to Iryna Skrypka, a specialist in the management and viral hepatitis and opioid dependence prevention at the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. She spoke during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.
“This year, in July, updated standards for the treatment of viral hepatitis C were adopted,” Skrypka said. “This is a big breakthrough for us, because we have stopped focusing on different treatment regimens and are focusing on one that is allowed for all types of viral hepatitis C. There are six of them in total, and this is important because now any patient with viral hepatitis C will have access to treatment.”
