Ukraine secures wheat supply, eyes export potential, agrarian council says
According to the Ukrainian Agri Council, Ukraine expects to fully cover its domestic wheat needs and still ship significant volumes abroad.
Denys Marchuk, deputy chairman of the council, said at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine that farmers will be able to export more than 15 million tons of grain this season.
“Despite the war, constant shelling and unfavorable weather conditions, we have a good wheat harvest of 22.5 million tons,” Marchuk said. “This means that wheat food security will be fully covered. We need 6-7 million tons per year. So we are talking about export potential for the future.”
