Ukraine’s timber growth outpaces harvesting by three times – State Forest Resources Agency

Ukraine plants three times more forests annually than it harvests. Viktor Smal, head of the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine, stated this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“Despite the common belief that Ukraine’s forestry sector is unsustainable, our numbers prove otherwise – the annual timber growth is 35 million cubic meters. Last year, the harvest was only 15 million cubic meters. This is the lowest figure among European countries,” he emphasized.
