Ukraine’s Radio Dictation 2024: Winners announced

Six participants emerged victorious in this year’s Radio Dictation of National Unity, with one person achieving a flawless result. Notably, no winners had only one mistake, while five contestants earned recognition with just two errors each.

The announcement was made during a press conference held at Media Center Ukraine. This year’s dictation text was written perfectly by Khrystyna Hoyaniuk, a resident of Lviv.

“Khrystyna has participated in every Radio Dictation of National Unity and has won at least five times,” said Yuliia Sheludko, coordinator of the Radio Dictation.

Although no one won with a single mistake this year, the following participants secured victory with only two errors:

– Timicheva Natalia;

– Andrii Bondar, a Ukrainian language and computer science teacher at Krushynka Gymnasium under the Hlevakha Village Council in Kyiv region;

– Yuliia Pereshch from Osterka Lyceum No. 1, Osterka City Council, Chernihiv Oblast;

– Daryna Kriachko;

– Natalia Rubezhanska.

“Despite concerns that the text was difficult, I think we did quite well,” said Sheludko, executive producer of Ukrainian Radio. “Everyone worried about punctuation, expecting many errors, but it turns out punctuation wasn’t the main issue. Most mistakes occurred elsewhere.”

Sheludko also noted that nearly 12,000 letters were submitted, including several in Braille.

Dmytro Khorkin, a member of the Suspilne Board, highlighted the international reach of the event. “Letters came not only from across Ukraine but also from abroad,” he said.

Paper letters arrived from Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Hungary, Italy, and Poland.

Emails were sent from a diverse range of countries, including Albania, Australia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Mauritius, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, the UAE, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
